Originally from South Dakota, Spencer Schoeneman has been active in the Twin Cities since 2010, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Percussion Performance from McNally Smith College of Music.
A versatile drummer, Spencer has lent his skills to various bands, and performs regularly in the worship band for Community of Hope Church. He is also a staple of the musical theatre pit community, and has been heard at theatres all over the Twin Cities including Old Log Theatre, Theater Latte Da, Theatre L'Homme Dieu, Yellow Tree Theatre, History Theatre, Minnetonka Community Theatre, and Mixed Blood Theatre. As a drummer for musicals Spencer is familiar with practically every style and technique of kit playing from popular styles like Rock, Pop, R&B, Metal, and Country to more classical styles such as Jazz, Doo-Wop, and Swing.
As an educator, Spencer has worked with students across the Twin Cities, including spending a three-year stint as drum instructor at Forte Music Academy in Albertville, MN. He currently teaches out of his home studio in Eagan, MN. His teaching style is best described as patient, encouraging, and thorough, and teaches students of all ages and levels of ability. Regardless of style students will not only learn the vocabulary, but the appropriate feel and mindset anyone will need to perform in any genre, and in the most authentic fashion possible. Spencer is as passionate as ever about sharing his knowledge of rhythm and groove with others.
